Kam's Heart

Good afternoon blog world.  Today I come to you with a special need.  A very special friend of ours has been battling health issues with her son.  Before I get onto the digis you see above, let me have Beth tell you about her son Kam...

Kam was born at 32 weeks with complex congenital heart defects. Seven years on, we now have a confirmed diagnosis of Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) which causes parts of the left side of the heart (mitral valve, left ventricle, aortic valve, and aorta) to not develop and Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasia (ARVD) a condition characterized by the replacement of myocardial tissue by fat and fibrous tissue which causes sudden cardiac arrest. There are other factors at play which, after over 50 surgeries and 24 known heart stoppages, remain undiagnosed. Due to the complexity of his condition, Kam's best (and arguably only) hope of receiving the transplant he ultimately needs, is to travel to America to undergo corrective and reconstructive surgery which will hopefully allow a healthy heart to fit and connect properly. Currently Kam's British surgeons predict it could take in excess of ten years if undertaken in the UK. On February 2nd, Kam will fly to California to meet the surgical teams who believe it may be possible to achieve the same result in 3-4 months! Once there he'll undergo extensive testing and all being well he'll return within as soon as possible for the life saving surgery.

Go to Simply Betty's Blog and check out how you can get these 2 Awesome images and help out a crafting family in need...
 Hugs and THANK YOU
